Top 5 - 90’s Cartoons that deserve a Live-Action movie

With the announcement of Leonardo DiCaprio's Captain Planet, I decided to look into other 90's tv shows that deserve their own live action remake. These are my top 5. I know I missed some so let me know in the comments or email me!

5 - Beavis and Butt-Head

I hate this cartoon, but even I can’t deny the influence it had on young culture in the 90’s and early 2000’s. The reason I believe Beavis and Butt-Head deserves a live action movie is because of the success and humor of the iconic Wayne's World. It’s about time we had another stupid buddy comedy. I think Beavis and Butt-Head is the perfect platform to launch another dim witted duo into comedy history.

4 - Rocketpower

Imagine Point Break meets tweens… only better. With extreme sports more popular now than ever, this is the perfect time to make a live action movie of the surfing, mountain boarding, BMXing kids of Rocket Power. With lovable and relatable characters Rocket Power could take people for a ride while hitting on the nostalgic nerve we all love. Action, kids, sports, and drama - what’s not to love?

3 - Solar moon

I’m extremely surprised this hasn't happened yet. When you combine magic, action, super powers, and attractive women you have an instant hit! Think Sucker Punch without all the prostitution and stripping… Of course, you would need to darken it up and make sure you cast people that could genuinely act, but if you can make a blonde Viking a cultural icon, Solar moon could be too.

2 - The Powerpuff Girls

Creepy villains, super powers and adorable little girls, these are the ingredients to create the perfect summer blockbuster! The villain can make or break a movie. “Him” still haunts my nightmares and could do the same for adults today if updated to a live action serial killer (or something). With several good villains to choose from, I think Powerpuff Girls could be a light-hearted kids show turned dark and gritty in the best of ways.

1 - Dragon Ball Z

Wait… What? There was a live action movie of Dragon Ball in 2009? I don’t know what you are talking about. I refuse to acknowledge what I consider to be the worst movie of all time (The Last Air Bender is a close second)

Listed as number 9 in the top 10 most successful cartoons of all time, this iconic anime deserves an amazing live action movie. I’m talking Russo brother directed and a budget of at least $150 million kind of movie. With action that leaves jaws open all over the world and characters as iconic as the clothes they wear, it’s an absolute shame no one has capitalized on the live action possibilities of this franchise.

Well there you have it. I know I missed some, so let me know which 90’s cartoons you think should get a live action movie.
