We All Live in an Early Halloween

...an early Halloween, an early Halloween...

Sorry, we're still somehow thinking about the Beetles. If nothing else, our episode on Yesterday gave us ear-worms that we haven't been able to get rid of yet.

ANYWAY! The point is that today is Friday the 13th, and we've spent the whole week thinking and talking about the It movies. AND it's a freaking full moon tonight. So, basically, we might as well ignore Halloween in six weeks, mightn't we?

We looked forward to this for a long time, and we were not disappointed.

OK, maybe IT Chapter Two was a little disappointing, but Scott Beck and Bryan Woods were truly excellent guests -- everything we could have hoped for and more.

Not only did we unpack IT in a way that left us all feeling a bit wiser, we also got to geek out about how much we loved Haunt (their new movie out TODAY -- go see it!), and revisit some of the salient themes from A Quiet Place.

Man, what a great episode. Can you hear our satisfied sigh from all the way over there?

As the highest-grossing horror movie of all time, and with a hotly anticipated sequel clown-dancing its way into theaters, this was a movie we knew we had to cover.

CJ even managed to watch it AND survive. Listen as your favorite Nerd Critic duo slather appreciation on and uncover a host of surprising profundities in this wildly popular Stephen King adaptation.

Coming up next week…

On, Monday, September 16th, we're covering Fight Club, which YOU requested! See? All that time you've been listening, we've been listening right back.

And then on Friday, September 20th, we will be following up our conversation with Bryan Woods and Scott Beck to do a deep dive into their latest movie, Haunt. Which, once again, GO SEE IT.

ANNOUNCEMENTS!

OK, so probably you've heard aboutJoker, coming very soon to ALL THE THEATERS. Obviously, we'll be covering it on our show. But guess what else.

Joker will be our 100th episode.

That means, of course, that it is time to build up some hype.

We're finally covering The Dark Knight

The OTS episode (#99, if you're counting, which we are) leading up to our Joker episode on Friday is the perfect opportunity. We know, we know. It's about damn time.

We’re doing another giveaway

Details TBD, but it's gonna be like $200 worth of stuff. We're talking all kinds of super sweet DC swag, including but not limited to Christopher Nolan's Dark Knight Trilogy on Blu-ray. Yes, you read that right.

It's going to be a competition

We really need to discover how worthy CJ is of his Resident Nerd title. Can you take it away from him by knowing even MORE useless nerd trivia than him? If you think you can, you'll get your chance. Watch out on our social channels, because the Olympic Games of Nerd-dom will be happening very soon.

(To be clear, taking away his title, in this case, just means you get all that awesome swag. CJ will continue co-hosting Nerd Critic, regardless of how much less qualified he feels after this contest.)

There will be an epic guest

We won't tell you who yet. You're going to have to wait. But you should trust us by now, shouldn't you? We think you should.
